Founded by Anthony Martin in 1998, the Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) is a 501 C3 nonprofit organization headquartered in Philadelphia dedicated to exposing inner city youth, ages 8-18, to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) career opportunities in the motorsports industry through education, training and on track driving experience.
To date, UYRS has impacted the lives of over 7,500 at risk youth and counting. Over the last two decades, UYRS has worked with corporate and educational partners like General Motors, the Office of Naval Research, the Knight Foundation, Chevrolet and the Jordan Brand to impact the lives of its students.
The Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) is set to host the Celebrity Grand Prix that introduces young, inner-city children to the world of motorsports. This year’s Grand Prix will be hosted in conjunction with NASCAR Rising Star Kyle Larson and Friends.
UYRS and its corporate partners will create a Midway STEM to engage the local community throughout the day. Families and kids will be able to experience demonstrations from UYRS corporate partners and learn more about their impact on the community.
Past Honorary Drivers, Masters of Ceremony, Grand Marshalls and special guests have included; 5 Time NASCAR Champion Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr; Bubba Wallace, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Tina Gordon (NASCAR Driver), Reggie Showers (NHRA Driver), Styles (The LOX), Rocwiller (Hip Hop Producer), NAAM Brigade (Philly Group) and Carvin Haggins (R&B Producer) and many more.
The Please Touch Museum is a children’s museum that focuses on teaching children through interactive exhibits and special events. Located at Memorial Hall, the last major building left from the 1876 Centennial Exposition.
