Complete Your Clearances
Because we work with youth, Pennsylvania law requires every volunteer to obtain a few background clearances. The links below walk you through each one.
Send Us Your Clearances
Email your completed clearance certificates to [email protected]. Our team will review them and reach out to welcome you aboard.
Background Clearances
Because our volunteers work directly with young people, Pennsylvania law (Act 153) requires the following clearances. The first two are free for volunteers. You obtain them yourself using the official links below.
PA Child Abuse History Clearance
Free for unpaid volunteers. Apply online through the PA Child Welfare (Compass) portal.
Get Child Abuse ClearancePA State Police Criminal Record Check
Free for unpaid volunteers. Request your record check through the PATCH portal.
Get PA Criminal CheckFBI Fingerprint Background Check
Required in most cases. PA volunteers with 10+ years of residency may qualify to waive this with an affidavit — ask us first.
